Weston instructs reading through the Reading Workshop Model in accordance with MAISA Units.  The workshop model can be done in various ways.  At Weston, the teacher starts off each session with a mini-lesson that targets a specific skill.  The students then have independent reading time.  During this independent reading time, teachers confer (meet) with students one-on-one or in small groups to discuss specific reading goals/targets (differentiation).  Students usually finish each session by buddy reading, reading with a partner.  The learning target is shared numerous times throughout the lesson.
